Blessings to you this Christmas Season!
For many of us Christmas is a time of preparation which includes getting presents ready, preparing food, and preparing for the arrival of guests. But mostly, we prepare ourselves to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
Crossroads College is in a new season of preparation as well.
My name is Dr. Curtis McGinnis. Effective January 1, the Crossroads College Board of Trustees has hired me to serve as part-time Planning Director to begin exploring a new chapter for Crossroads. I am the former Professor of Ministry at Crossroads College as well as an alumnus of the school (BA ’01).
The past few months have been filled with planning and discussion on how the school can continue to fulfill its mission. While Crossroads is no longer a residential college we will continue to serve the churches in the upper Midwest.
Here is a summary of the future direction of Crossroads:
- A renewed focus to provide resources that strengthen churches in the upper Midwest. I will be spearheading efforts to develop church leadership training, seminars, and opportunities for church health assessments and consultation.
- Crossroads continues to explore the possibility of bringing Hope International University (HIU) classes to Rochester. I will oversee educational activity including seminars and potential on-campus and online courses and degrees offered by HIU.
- A new advisory board (separate from the Crossroads Board of Trustees) will be created in early 2018 to work with me in determining the next steps of church development efforts.
- The Crossroads Board of Trustees have approved the transfer of academic records to HIU Nebraska Campus. This is important, so former students can gain access to their transcripts since Crossroads no longer employs staff to handle these requests
While its future will be different from its past, the mission of Crossroads continues to move forward. As I’ve told students in my ministry class “Methods are many, principles are few. Methods always change, principles never do.” This is true of Crossroads mission as well. Our method of “developing Christian leaders who impact the world for Christ” will be different, but the mission and need is still true. The churches in the upper Midwest need strengthening and support to reach and raise up next generation leaders. Crossroads College is committed to assisting churches in that endeavor.
How can you be involved?
First, I would love to hear from you. I am willing to answer any questions you have and welcome the opportunity to meet with your church staff, leadership, or missions team to talk about how we might collaborate to help strengthen your church.
Second, consider continuing your financial support of Crossroads. Thank you for your faithful support thus far.
Third, and most importantly, we covet your prayers in this period of preparation.
I look forward to meeting and working with many of you and your churches in the future.
