Auditions and Interview Requirements

An audition and interview with Professor Dunbar are required before a student declares his or her intent to major in music.  Normally this is done during the semester preceding the first semester of enrollment at Crossroads College, or during student orientation of the first semester of study.

The purposes of the audition/interview are to determine the skill level in the applied emphasis, to discuss career choices in the field of music, and make proper introductions.  The application materials for the music scholarship may also serve as the audition/interview.  At the audition, the student will perform vocal or instrumental pieces, demonstrate technical skill, and sight-read.

The audition/interview is completed as part of the process of applying for acceptance as a music major.  Click here for the application to admission to the music program.

Placement tests are administered to prospective music students during orientation week (or prior) to determine placement in music theory and ear training classes.  Students who score 85% or better on the music theory exam test out of MUS1101 Music Theory I.
