Christian College Consortium

Crossroads College is a founding member of the Christian College Consortium for Distance Learning. The ten member schools have entered into partnership for the purpose of developing high quality courses offered via CD-ROM and the Internet.

At this writing, seven courses described below are offered every semester. New courses are developed each year. Students may enroll in these courses at Crossroads College. Crossroads will award the academic credit. The number of participants is limited, so students should register early. See the Registrar for details.

Course Descriptions

CCC 300 Restoration Movement (3) [on-line]
The purpose of this course is to acquaint the student with the Restoration Movement, including its history, its theological presuppositions, its commitments, and its relevant applications for today. Early leaders and guiding principles receive special attention. Crossroads accepts this on-line course in place of HUM 3800 American Christianity (3).

CCC 310 Introduction to Islam (3) [on-line]
This course includes a survey of key elements in the life of Islam (beliefs, practices, institutions) from a biblical perspective, with the goal of preparing Christians for ministry to Muslims. Special attention will be given to the role of Muhammad; the Quran; diversity within Islam; and Islamic values, thought, social structure, and theology, in view of the helps and hindrances to evangelism presented by each. Crossroads accepts this course as an Upper Division BTH elective in Comparative Religion.

CCC 320 Youth Ministry Dynamics (3) [on-line]
This course focuses on the organization and administration of an effective youth program for the local church. Characteristics and needs of today's youth will be examined in order to meet those needs through the gospel. Included is a history of youth ministry, developing a personal philosophy, goals, qualifications, socials, staff relationships, retreats, discipleship programs, and other administrative duties required to develop a balanced youth program. Crossroads accepts this on-line course in place of MIN 3520 Person & Work of the Youth Minister (3).

CCC 330 Bible Lands and Lifeways (3) [on-line]
This course is a multimedia exploration of the geography and cultures of the Bible. It incorporates on-site videos, interactive maps, and a variety of learning tools to help students learn their way around the Holy Land. Crossroads accepts this course as an Upper Division Biblical & Theological Studies (BTH) elective.

CCC 340A Life of Christ: Semester 1 of 4 (3) [on-line] This harmonized study of the Gospels is the first semester of four. Section A covers the beginning of the Gospels through the first year of Jesus' ministry. It concentrates on the birth narratives, early Judean ministry, and early Galilean ministry. It includes Jesus' sermons on His deity and credentials (John 5) and the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7).

CCC 340B Life of Christ: Semester 2 of 4 (3) [on-line]
This course is the second section of a four-part harmonized study of the Christ of the Four Gospels. This section covers the later Galilean ministry, including the feeding of the 5000, Peter's great confession, and the transfiguration. A four-hour course of the same section is available from Professor Moore through the Ozark Christian College Distance Learning program.

CCC 340C Life of Christ: Semester 3 of 4 (3) [on-line]
Semester 3 covers the Later Judean ministry and Perean ministry up through Tuesday of the last week. It includes travel narrative (Lk. 10-19) and a number of major confrontations with Jewish leaders, culminating in the triumphal entry and the cleansing of the temple. Major sermons: Sermon on light and the Good Shepherd (Jn. 7, 10), and the debate in the temple (Matt. 21-23).

CCC 340D Life of Christ: Semester 4 of 4 (3) [on-line]
Semester 4 covers the passion through the ascension. It includes the Last Supper, arrest, crucifixion, and resurrection. Major sermons: prediction of Jerusalem's destruction (Matt. 24) and the farewell discourse (John 13-17).

CCC 350 Foundations of World Religions (3) [on-line]
This course includes an introduction to the theories, origin, and function of religion. In addition to a survey of primitive and basic religions, it includes a study of the major religions of the world, classified by their geographical area of origin-namely, those tracing their beginnings to India, to China and Japan, and to the Middle East. The course concludes with a study of the response of Christianity to these world religions. Crossroads accepts this on-line course in place of BTH 4600 Christian Theology & World Religions.
